Terms of Service
Draft 0.2, 28 September 2026. Applies to everyone who uses FixIt.App.
1. Who we are and what FixIt does
FixIt.App ("FixIt", "we") is an online platform that puts homeowners in touch with independent tradespeople ("professionals") in Switzerland. The operator is named in the impressum.
FixIt is an intermediary, not a tradesperson. We do not carry out repair, maintenance or installation work, we do not employ the professionals on the platform, and we are not a party to the contract for the work. When a homeowner accepts a quote, the contract for the work is formed between that homeowner and that professional. FixIt introduces the parties, hosts their messages, and collects payment on the professional's behalf.
2. Your account
- You must be at least 18 years old and able to enter into contracts.
- Give accurate information, including your real name, contact details and, for jobs, the address where the work is to be done. Confirm your email address before posting jobs, sending quotes or using the assistant.
- One account per person. Keep your password to yourself; you are responsible for what happens under your account.
- Do not use FixIt to advertise unrelated services, to harass anyone, or to collect other users' details for anything other than the job at hand.
- Do not access FixIt with scripts or automated tools, create accounts in bulk, or try to get around the limits and security checks. We may block accounts and networks that do.
3. The AI assistant: limits and safety
FixIt includes an AI assistant that suggests possible causes, safe first steps, and helps you describe a job for professionals. It currently covers plumbing and electrical problems. It gives general information only. It is not professional advice, it cannot see your home, it can be wrong, and it is not a substitute for a qualified tradesperson.
Never carry out gas work, and never carry out electrical work beyond resetting a breaker or replacing a fuse of the same rating. If you smell gas, see smoke or sparks, or water is near electricity, leave the danger area and call the emergency services (112, fire 118, ambulance 144) or your gas or electricity supplier straight away: do not wait for the assistant or for a quote.
You decide whether to act on the assistant's suggestions. Liability for following them is governed by section 11. The assistant has a daily message limit per account so the service stays affordable for everyone.
4. Professionals: approval and obligations
To quote on jobs, a professional must be approved by FixIt and must:
- be self-employed or act for their own business, and hold any trade licence or permit the work legally requires (for example the ESTI permit for electrical installations), and keep it current;
- hold valid liability insurance covering the work they carry out;
- provide proof of identity and keep their profile truthful;
- work with reasonable skill and care and follow the applicable safety rules;
- quote honestly, turn up when agreed, and tell the homeowner promptly through FixIt if they cannot.
Approval means we have looked at the documents supplied. It is not a guarantee of the quality of any job and does not transfer the professional's legal responsibilities to FixIt. We may suspend or remove a professional whose documents lapse, who repeatedly fails to attend, who works unsafely, or who breaks these terms. Section 7 contains further terms for professionals.
5. Quotes, bookings and cancellation
- A quote is an offer by the professional. Accepting it creates a booking and the contract for the work. The other quotes are then declined and the professional receives the full address.
- The time in the accepted quote is the appointment. Either side can move it through the booking page; the other side is told.
- The homeowner can cancel free of charge until the professional marks the job as started. Once work has started, cancellation and payment for work already done are a matter between homeowner and professional under their contract.
- If the professional cancels, the homeowner is told and can post the request again.
- Extra work found on site must be proposed through FixIt as an add-on and accepted by the homeowner before it is charged.
6. Prices and payment
- Prices are set by the professional in Swiss francs (CHF). The total shown to the homeowner before accepting is what is payable for that scope of work, plus any add-ons the homeowner accepts.
- The homeowner pays after the work is done, through FixIt. Card and other online payments are processed by Stripe; FixIt never sees or stores card details.
- FixIt collects the payment on behalf of the professional. Payment through FixIt discharges the homeowner's debt to the professional for that booking.
- Service fee. The homeowner pays FixIt a service fee of 3% of the professional's price, at most CHF 15 per booking. It is included in every total shown before accepting, for example "CHF 206 incl. CHF 6 service fee". The rate that applies is the one shown when the professional sends the quote.
- While a dispute is open (section 9), payment for that booking is on hold.
7. Further terms for professionals
- Commission. FixIt charges the professional a commission of 5% of the professional's price for the booking, including add-ons. The homeowner's service fee is not taken from the professional. The rate that applies is the one shown here when the professional sends the quote. We will announce a change of rate at least 30 days in advance. Launch price: 5% commission, rising to 8% once FixIt brings you regular work. You will get at least 30 days' notice by email.
- Payout. FixIt pays the professional's price, minus the commission, to the bank account the professional gives us. We aim to pay within 10 working days after the homeowner's payment, unless a dispute is open.
- Independence. Professionals are independent. FixIt does not direct how the work is done and there is no employment relationship. Professionals are responsible for their own taxes, social security contributions and, where applicable, VAT.
- Staying on the platform. Jobs introduced through FixIt must be quoted, booked and paid through FixIt, including follow-up work for the same homeowner within 12 months of the introduction. Moving payment outside FixIt to avoid the commission removes the homeowner's protection and the record we need to resolve disputes, and may lead to removal.
- Invoices. Where FixIt produces an invoice for the work, it is issued in the professional's name, from the data the professional has confirmed. The professional is responsible for its content being correct.
- Helpers. If you bring in another approved professional through FixIt, FixIt pays the whole payout to you and you pay them the share you agreed. That arrangement is between the two of you.
8. Reviews and content
You keep ownership of the text and photos you upload, and allow FixIt to show them where needed to run the service, for example job photos to professionals invited to quote, or a review on a professional's profile. Reviews must be honest and based on a real booking. Professionals may reply to reviews once, factually. We may remove content that is unlawful, abusive or plainly false.
9. If something goes wrong
Either side can raise a dispute from the booking page. What we do:
- we put payment for that booking on hold and tell both sides;
- we look at the record of the job (messages, photos, quote and add-ons) and at what each side tells us, and propose a solution;
- we may refund our commission where a job has gone badly;
- we may suspend or remove a professional who repeatedly fails.
FixIt is not an insurer and does not guarantee the work. Claims for defective work, damage or injury are between the homeowner and the professional under their contract, and are normally covered by the professional's liability insurance. Nothing in these terms limits a homeowner's rights under the law, including the rules on defects in the Swiss Code of Obligations.
10. Availability of the service
We work to keep FixIt running but cannot promise it will always be available or error-free. We may change, pause or discontinue features. We will give reasonable notice of changes that affect bookings already made.
11. Liability
FixIt is liable for damage it causes intentionally or through gross negligence. To the extent the law allows, any further liability of FixIt (in particular for slight negligence, for indirect or consequential loss, for lost profit, and for the acts or omissions of homeowners and professionals) is excluded. This does not limit liability for death or personal injury, or any other liability that mandatory law does not allow to be excluded.
12. Closing your account
You can close your account at any time from your profile page, except while a job is in progress or a finished job is not yet paid or has an open problem report. We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms, telling you why unless the law or safety prevents it. Closing an account does not cancel obligations already incurred, such as payment for completed work.
13. Changes, law and courts
We may update these terms. The new version is posted here with its date, and we tell account holders about material changes before they apply. These terms are governed by Swiss law. The courts of Lugano, Switzerland, have jurisdiction unless mandatory law provides otherwise; consumers can always sue and be sued at their place of residence.
Questions about these terms: see the impressum. See also the privacy policy.
